information about the exact location or record geographical coordinates of your photos. In the past You have to carry GPS unit to records where you are at a given time, while you take pictures. Then sync up your GPS logs with the timestamps on your digital photos using your computer . The other option you can go to the Flickr to drag and drop your photos onto a map for geotaging manually. Of course that activity add your workflow and need more time to finishing your job. Moreover , if your camera's clock doesn't match the GPS satellite's time, well, things can get messy.
Now for that job you can use GPS units that plugged directly into your camera, If you Nikon user you can use
Nikon Accessories Nikon GP-1 GPS Unit for writing latitude and longitude tags directly to the image file as you took your picture.
The GP-1 is really small, maybe the smallest thing you can attach to a camera's hotshoe. But this
Nikon accessories doesn't connect to the camera via the hotshoe, it's there only for convenience's sake and the GP-1 can be clipped instead to the camera strap (via a very flimsy adapter). So you can use external flash and the GP-1 at the same time. You can connect the GP-1 via one of two included cables, one to connect to your
Nikon camera through a unique accessory terminal used by the GP-1 (as well as the MC-DC2 wired remote), and the other one to attach the 10-pin PC sync terminal on your camera. It means the GP-1 draws power from the camera through the cable, so it has no batteries of its own. This Nikon Accessories also has USB port to allow you connected the GP-1 to a computer via your camera's USB cable.
This
Nikon Accessories works automatically when the camera is turned on. There is a single LED as signal status indicator. If the LED blinking red means it has not acquired a GPS fix and data will not be recorded and if blinking green means that it has acquired three GPS satellites and will record location data and the solid green means that it has acquired four satellites, and location data will be more accurate
The GP-1 is compatible with the D300, D3 and D700. it also works with the D2XS, D2X, D2HS and D200. But it does not work at all with the D40X, D40,D50, D60, D70S D70 or D80 or with older pro digital SLRs like the D1 series or D100. This Nikon Accessories makes up seamless integration with the cameras so the price is more expensive than other GPS loggers. So , what's more important to you would you rather spend time to save money, with a more complicated, fiddlier GPS logger, or would you rather spend money to save time? The choice is yours
