Power Pack Systems

AC-powered electronic flash units fall into two distinct categories: systems with a power pack to which individual heads are connected, and self-contained (monobloc) units where the power unit

Range from full to 1/32 power. You can also choose to turn the modeling light(s) off. The modeling lamp controls are common to both heads, so the modeling lamp in one head cannot be adjusted independently of the other. The ZEUS flash heads incorporate 250w halogen bulbs so there is plenty of light. I ran the modeling lights at half power most of the time when shooting
The ZEUS flash heads are even more compact than the AlienBees monoblocs. The standard Z2500SH flash head can be used with either ZEUS Studio Lighting Equipment pack. A circular flash tube surrounds the 250w modeling lamp. Also available is the Z2500BTH bi-tube head with two flash tubes and two cables. a rather incredible combined output of 5000 ws. bi-tube ZEUS heads are compatible with the extensive range of White Lightning and AlienBees accessorie . According to the White Lightning and AlienBees websites, the ZEUS Studio Lighting Equipment system is also compatible with parts of the Dynalite system. ZEUS power packs are pin for pin and voltage for voltage compatible with the Dynalite 2040, 4040, and 4080 series flash heads. for voltage compatible with the Dynalite M2000 series power packs.

Testing
When the ZEUS Studio Lighting Equipment arrived, I set up the 1250 ws pack and the standard Z2500SH flash head for some preliminary tests. The pack arrived with rubber caps protecting the two flash outlets. There is a small molded black dot on the black flash head connector that was very difficult for me to see in my dimly lit shooting space. power pack to align the pins correctly. When I adjusted the power level slider by carefully aligning it with the spacing for the full-stop settings, the output adjusted exactly in full-stop increments. At each power setting, repeated flashes were exactly repeatable, +/- 0.0 stops! Recycle time
varied for 1.5 seconds at full power to about 0.2 seconds at 1/32 power. It increased 500° Kelvin from 1/32 to full power.

with two heads connected to the Z1250 pack and the power dialed down to 1/32, the lowest setting, my meter read f/11 at ISO 100. ISO 100 with the Z1250 set on 1/4 power. Recycle time was never an issue. (Model: Amelia.)
